The Rondy Royalty Court is a proud part of Anchorage’s beloved Fur Rendezvous Festival, made up of ten incredible individuals who represent the heart and spirit of our community. This group is guided by a dedicated team of volunteers and serves as year-round ambassadors for the festival and the city of Anchorage.
Each Royal Court member is chosen for their leadership, community involvement, and passion for Alaska’s traditions.
These influential Alaskans can be found attending Fur Rondy events, connecting with festival goers, and representing Rondy at celebrations across the state throughout the year.
The Royal Court includes ten titles: Queen, two Princesses, Heritage Ambassador, Sweetheart, Lord and Lady Trapper, King and Queen Regent, and of course, our unforgettable mascot, Rondy Bear.
You’ll spot us all over the city during the festival and across Alaska in the months that follow. Come say hello, snap a photo, and share your favorite Fur Rondy memories with us. Don’t forget to tag your moments with #RondyRoyalty so we can follow along with your adventures too!
The tradition of selecting a Fur Rendezvous Queen began in 1936. Today, the Queen is a dynamic woman between the ages of 21 and 40, selected through a process that includes a professional interview, resume submission, community service, and public speaking. She serves as the face of the festival, attending events and engaging with the community all year long.
The Rondy Sweetheart title celebrates the next generation of community leaders. Open to young women ages 16 to 20, the Sweetheart participates in a similar selection process as the Queen and Princesses. She serves as a youth voice for Fur Rondy and takes part in events during the festival and throughout the year.
Introduced in 2016, the Heritage Ambassador honors an exceptional Alaska Native woman who embodies cultural pride and community connection. She helps preserve and promote Alaska Native heritage and traditions, and serves proudly with the Royal Court throughout the year.
Princesses
Princesses are also selected through this competition process and represent the court alongside the Queen and Sweetheart at both festival and community events.
Chosen for their outstanding contributions to the Anchorage community and the success of Fur Rendezvous, the Lord and Lady Trapper titles are a cherished honor. This tradition began in 1981 with the first Lord Trapper and expanded in 1997 with the introduction of the Lady Trapper. Honorees are selected annually by past Lords and Ladies.
The King and Queen Regent are chosen from the Pioneers of Alaska, representing our state’s adventurous spirit and rich history. These esteemed individuals are honored for their deep roots in Alaska and serve as living reminders of our pioneering past.
